The attractive outer shell houses a stainless steel tank with a 1 pint (600ml) liquid capacity and makes for easy cleanup and storage. Featuring 5 preset cleaning cycles for quick 1 touch operation and precise cleaning time control. Just push the button to select your cleaning cycle and walk away. The large timer display lets you check the progress at a glance, even in low light environments. Ultrasonic Cleaning occurs when ultrahigh frequency sound waves (Hz) are passed through a liquid creating cavitation, microscopic bubbles collapsing into themselves. This creates a high energy vacuum effect which safely pulls debris, foreign particles and other contaminants from the surfaces being cleaned. With ultrasonic cleaning, both the exterior and the interior surfaces, including crevices, are thoroughly cleaned. The title says it all. This item is one of my better purchases and like an earlier reviewer said, once you try it, you will be searching for other things to clean. The cleaning process is fairly simple. You fill the cleaning chamber with water, place your item in the bin, set the cleaning time, and return to a very clean item.
The 3800 includes the cleaner itself, a tray for smaller pieces and a watch holder. The manual says that "enhanced" cleaning can be accomplished using 5 ml of dishwashing soap. I used Dawn and my watch, ring, and glasses came out extremely clean. With my glasses, I use a microfiber towel to dry them and the lens and frame sparkle. It is the cleanest that I have ever seen the lens.
There is a viewing port, which allows you to see the cleaned item and the dirty water without stopping the cleaning. The timer button is great. You press it repeatedly to cycle through the cleaning times, there are five. My watch band was extremely dirty so I used the 380 second cleaning time. My ring and glasses were clean with the normal 180 second cleaning time.
The 3800 is well built, is relatively quiet, and uses normal tap water. The Owner's Manual is a one-page foldout, but it does tell you everything that you need to know. I have not had the item very long, but currently, I am very pleased with it.
PROS:

(5) Digital display of cleaning time

CONS:
(1) Owner Manual recommends that item is not continuously plugged in to wall power outlet
(2) No bell or beep to signal termination of cleaning cycle.

Love it. Not only does my engagement ring sparkle but my glasses come out cleaner than I ever imagined they could be. i bought this item because my husband is always saying he bought me a beautiful ring (which he did) but it always looks duller than he remembered - hand cream, washing dishes, and general wear and tear will do that. i pop the ring in every couple of days - along with my glasses and pow - sparkle, clean city. It is fast, fairly quiet and overall geat. Don't wast your money on cleaner - doesn't even need it. Once you buy this, you'll be looking for more things to clean!

If your wife, or you for that matter, has jewelry, silver ware or anything made of precious metal, you will need to purchase this item. This can be used for any metal that needs to be cleaned, including your nails. This does have a disposable that you will need to purchase periodically and that is the ultrasonic solution. The instructions tell you not to use vinegar, and I'm sure that its due to the chemical problems, but I don't really know. So be a good husband and purchase this for your wife. The size of the unit is small, but you can easily get your nails in there--if you want to.
